We at VEGAN FOODS are specialized in providing the highest quality, authentic papads to customers all over India under our Brand MR PAPAD.

Papad, also known as Papadum, is a traditional Indian snack food item which is normally consumed post meals for digestion or eaten as a snack and is enjoyed all over the world. It is a (piece of) dried lentil chip formulated with Indian spices and oil.

Papads are typically made from a mixture of lentils, rice, or flour, and can be flavoured with a variety of spices and herbs. Lentils are grinded and mixed with different Indian spices, salt and oil to make a dough. The dough is then shaped into a thin rolled out, round flat bread and then dried in the sun. It is then consumed after roasted in microwave, fried or cooked with dry heat (flipped over an open flame). The end result is a crispy, flavourful, and versatile snack that can be enjoyed on its own or used as an accompaniment to a variety of dishes.

Papad is also known by several regional names in the various languages like Appalam in Tamil Nadu and parts of Kerala, Happala in Kannada, Papadam in Sinhala, Pappadam in Malayalam and parts of Kerala, Pappadum or Appadam in Telugu, Papad in Marathi, Bengali, Punjabi, Gujarati and other parts of North India, Pampada in Odisha, Poppadom in British English

  • OUR PRODUCTS

We offer a wide variety of papads both Regular and Fried. Regular papad includes Moong, Chana, Punjabi, Aloo and others. Whereas Fried papad includes Golgappa, Frumes and Bat, Sabu and others papads. Our papad is suitable for all as it is free from any preservatives and chemicals. We believe that quality and taste go hand in hand and we pay attention to each and every detail when making our papad. A description of our each product is as follows:-

Regular Papads

  • Mr Papad – [ Moong (Yellow Lentils) Sajji Papad ]

He forms the base of Papad Family. It has the goodness of Moong Dal (Split Yellow Lentils) mixed with Sajji-Khar (Crude Sodium Carbonate), Black Pepper, Salt and Spices. It is loved by almost all because of its crunchiness from the very first bite till the last bite.

  • Mrs Papad – [ Chana (Chickpea) Sajji Papad ]

She is the wife of Mr Papad. It brings the goodness of Chana Dal (Chickpea Lentils) mixed with Sajji-Khar (Crude Sodium Carbonate) along with a flavour of red chillies, dry spices and salt. Its taste makes people crazy.

  • Balle Balle – [ Sajji Punjabi Papad ]

He is the legendary crunchy papad made from Moong Dal (Split Yellow Lentils), Urad Dal (Black Gram) & Sajji-Khar (Crude Sodium Carbonate) with bold flavours black pepper and salt. A great combination of Rajasthani flavour with Punjabi twist.

 

  • Banarasi Aloo – [ Aloo (Potato) Papad ]

He is the legend of Banaras. It brings flavour of potatoes added with spices like salt, chilli flakes, and cumin seeds. He tastes delicious and a potato lover will never like to miss a chance to enjoy its crispiness.

Oil / Air Fried Papads

  • Golu Fuchki – [ Golpappa / Fuchka ]

They are hollow round balls which need to fry in oil and fill with flavoured water and filling for the tastes that perfectly mingle in your mouth. The orientation is totally different from the common fuchka or gol-gappa available.

  • 5G Papad – [ Badminton/ 3D Papad ]

These are light and crispy delicious papads. They puffs when fried. They are also available in different shapes and sizes.

 

  • Tapioca Pearl – [ Flavoured Sabudana Papad ]

These are made using Sago / Tapioca. They taste different from other papads. Their few variants are very common in Indian Tradition during fasting.

  • Colourful Wheels – [ Round Shaped Fryums ]

They are colourful ready to fry Indian snack which are made using flour and corn/potato starch. They comes in a variety of shapes, sizes and colours.

  • Crazy Fingers – [ Finger Shaped Fryums ]

These are hollow pipe like, ready to fry fingers made from rice flour and salty in taste when fried. They recalls back the childhood memories of wearing and biting fingers.

  • OUR STORY

The story of Mr Papad started when we moved to Kolkata, The City of Joy in 2009. We always have the habit of eating papad daily post meals. We would regularly complain our mother about the taste whenever papad was served. Mother would reply saying that earlier papads were homemade but now it is being purchased from market. Hence causing a difference in taste.

In Dec’17, while having food at night, we felt the old and traditional taste in papad. On enquiry we found that they were homemade papads by mother. From then, she started making papad for us regularly during the winter season and stored them for the rest of the year.

Time passed by and in Nov’20 during the time of Diwali, our parents were not well and due to Covid’19 outspread all items were purchased at the last moment from local stores including papads as homemade papads ran out of stock. On eating market papads after a long span of almost 3 years we realised that we paid high price for low quality papads which ultimately spoiled the festive mood.

After few weeks of Diwali on a Sunday morning when we were having breakfast and family conversations, which somehow went up to the last Diwali incident. The conversation then went further that these issues can be with anyone living in cities where quality papad is beyond reach and our discussions also unknowingly landed on an idea make papad a business.

To check the market feedback, we arranged a small family get-together of around 50 people in Feb’21 during our parent’s anniversary. We served both home and market made papad in dinner. Also kept them side by side in different bowls and waited for response. After few minutes we noticed, repetitive guests asked for homemade papad only.

In the year 2021, we distributed few samples of homemade papad to friends and relatives to get a final feedback. The feedback added fuel to our dreams and for almost one year we planned for raw materials, final product, packing, pricing, delivery, marketing and finally we launched the Brand “Mr Papad– The Crispy Bite”.
